Pagong’s Commitment
Our commitment at Pagong is to “convey our culture to the present day.”
We bring to you traditional design with the charm of Kyoto-Yuzen
Textile and Dyeing
Pagong's special fabrics are dyed by hand, one color at a time, by the artisans at Kamedatomi Dye Factory.
You can enjoy the quality of Kyoto's long-established dyers from the texture, pattern, and color of the fabric.
Locally Produced
Pagon fabric is created from the Kyoto Yuzen dyeing process used to make kimonos.
Made in Kyoto is a result of the relationship that has continued since the founding of Kamedatomi Dyeing Factory.
The quality of Pagong is supported by the high level of skill of the craftsmen in each process.
Cultural Inheritance
We want as many people as possible to know about Kyo Yuzen, so we deliver Kyo Yuzen to everyone, mainly clothing that can be used on a daily basis.
We also offer dyeing experiences and factory tours with the aim of passing down Kyo Yuzen.
Quality and style passed on from generation to generation. Our product is the essence of grace and simplicity.
We pride ourself on our carefully managed process starting from the dyeing the material up to the final stitching.
Throughout our range of items, you can enjoy the very best Japanese craftsmanship as well as pure distinctive style.
Planning
Planning of Our Pattens , Colors and Design
Our patterns are selected from the vast number of kimono designs in our KamedaTomi Company archives, and museum collections.
Selecting colors matching the pattern and season it will be used.
Stencils
Kyo-Yuzen / Kata-Yuzen A Kyoto Tradition
With a pattern drawn in detail, screens (kata) are made for each color used.
Based on formulations handed-down for generations, powder dyes are first dissolved in hot water and blended with thickners made from seaweed.
Dyeing
Pagong’s Dyeing Method
Great skill is required to archieve beautiful, clean lines.
Then thickened dye is applied, with some patterns requiring up to 25 screens, one per each color.
Washing
Steaming , Washing and Drying
After steaming at high temperature to set the dyes making them permanent, fabrics are gently washed, and allowd to air-dry before being ironed to retain maximum softness.
Long ago, the custom was to wash dyed fabrics in the Kamogawa river, however this is no longer practiced to protect the eco-system.
Sewing
Finishin Each Preciuos Design , One by One, Representing the Spirit of Our Company

After carefully checking the sewing, the item is ironed and complete.
