”Snow Falling on Banana Leaves”, depicting a native plant of the tropics, in a scene which we, the viewer, most likely would never see in our everyday lives is…unusual. Bearing the weight of heavy snow, the plant’s branches have resiliency, and willpower; awaiting spring with silent vitality. Heavy snow is considered to be a good omen for a rich harvest of rice; for melted snow provides an abundant supply of water.
